Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, 126 Panama Road, West Helena AR. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines:  mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.

Mrs. Berdine Buchanan Hoskins was born January 13, 1938 to the late Lucy and James Marshall in Marvell Arkansas. She was the eighth of twelve children. She departed this earthly life, receiving her heavenly reward November 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Berdine confessed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. As a young girl, she joined Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, West Helena Arkansas. At the age of 58, she was baptized in the Holy Ghost at the Church of God in Christ, West Helena Arkansas under the leadership of Elder James Watson. She would often say, “that was the best thing that happen to me.”

Berdine was united in Holy Matrimony to Cleve Buchanan for thirty-six years. To this union two sons were born; Hayward Buchanan and Cleo Marvin Buchanan. She later married Isiah Hoskins. This eight-year union brought forth no children but blended a family. Both preceding her in death.

Berdine was affectionate, she loved to hug and talk to people. She enjoyed making others laugh. She referred to laughter as a form of medicine. She not only had love for her family, but she also had love and compassion for others.

Berdine was a stay-at-home mother, but she was active in so many other capacities. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Golden Circle serving in Hopkinsville Kentucky, and a ten-year member of Loyal Lady Ruler.

Berdine is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a son; Cleo Marvin Buchanan, siblings; Fred Marshall, Vera M. Cobbin, Bessieola Cook, Katherine Watson, Searcy Marshall, Curtis Marshall, Roberta Parnell, James Marshall, and Clintene Moses.

Berdine leaves cherish her memories a son; Hayward Buchanan, four grandchildren; Jason Buchanan, Parker Buchanan, Cleve Buchanan, Abilgail Buchanan, one great grandson; Norah Buchanan, one God daughter; Angela Wilkins whom she loved dearly, extended family; Carl Ray (Stephanie) Hoskins, one brother; Willie C. Marshall, one sister; Mary (Eddie) Mitchell, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Berdine often thanked God for all her family. She expressed to her children not to worry about her, for she had lived a long happy life, she knew they loved her, but God loved her best.
