Visitation will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel,126 Panama Road, West Helena AR from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will promptly be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Morning Star Cemetery, Elaine Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines: mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart. Mr. Smith's service may be viewed live through ZOOM.

Jimmy “Poppa Smith” Lee Smith was born to Hattie and Joe Smith, Sr. on November 16, 1954 in Elaine, Arkansas.
Jimmy had eleven siblings whom he shared everything in life with. Jimmy went to school and continued as a farmhand along with many other talents. He confessed Christ at an early age. He lived a full life.
Affectionately known as “Poppa Smith,” his street name, was a real hard-working man. He believed in keeping his hands busy whether he was fishing or fixing on cars as his favorite past time. From time to time, he would even try to raise a garden. Poppa Smith never met a stranger. He always had a word to share and a lesson to give to those willing to listen.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; Joe and Hattie Smith, Sr., along with six brothers; Willie Lee Smith, June Smith, Robert Smith, Joe Smith, Jr., Larry “L” Smith, John “JD” Smith, three sisters; Bertha Smith-Strong, Archie Lee Smith, Lillie Lee Smith-Stewart, two brothers-in-law; Robert Shears, Junior Stewart; and one daughter; Brandy Smith.
On June 30, 2023, while at his home, the sunset for Jimmy “Poppa Smith”. He leave to cherish his precious memories his children; Jimmy (Deidra) Lee Smith, Jr. of Arlington TX, Shalonda (Lakedron) Graham of West Helena AR, Shania Smith of Little Rock AR, Valerie (Brian) Martinez of Clarksdale MS, Antonio Smith, Tremaine Smith both of Elaine AR, two sisters; Evangelist Kathleen (Fletcher) Jones of Helena AR, Delores Shears of Cabot AR, one special cousin/raised as a sister; Jane (Freeman) Lecorn of Memphis TN, three sisters-in-law; Beverly Smith of Crumrod AR, Leechell Smith of Elaine AR, Essie Saffore of St. Louis MO; three brothers-in-law; Otis (June) West of Yakima WA, Curtis Stewart of Flint Michigan, Ellis Paine of St. Louis MO, along with seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and many friends.
