Ms. Elbony “Ebony” Simerate Gammon was born on January 1, 1974 to the late Shirley Jean Gammon – Anderson in Helena, Arkansas.  She was the eldest of five siblings. Her grandparents, Eddie and Evangeleane Gammon helped raise and support her throughout the years.

Ebony accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She graduated from Central High School, Helena – West Helena, Arkansas in 1994. She enjoyed being around her family and friends, including her God-grandchildren. She really enjoyed cosmetology and was very proud of her daughter, Donzella, for studying to become a cosmetologist.

Ebony transitioned from this earthly journey with dignity at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas on Sunday, April 30, 2023, in the early morning. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Eddie Matthew and Evangeleane Gammon, her mother; Shirley Gammon – Anderson, a brother; Warren Anderson, and a son; Abdul Gammon.

Ebony leaves to cherish her memories a daughter; Donzella Gammon of Lake View AR, a brother; Jason Anderson of Rochester NY, sisters; Cassandra Anderson of Helena – West Helena AR, Kimberly Anderson of Helena – West Helena AR, uncles; Abdul (Dana Bjarnason-Amin) Amin of Houston TX, Jonathan (Carol) Gammon of South Holland IL, an aunt; Barbara Williams of Lake View AR, great aunt; Earline McGinister of West Helena AR, Godmother; Linda (Odis) Pruitt-Wilson, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
