Visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Helena Arkansas. Mr. Laria D. Gammon was born September 30, 1951 in Phillips County, Arkansas to the late Eddie Matthew and Evangeleane Gammon. He was the third of six siblings.

Laria accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age under the leadership of Reverend G. B. Tyler at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Lake View Arkansas. He graduated from C. V. White High School, Lake View Arkansas in 1970. Later, he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he attained an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology from Olive Harvey Community College. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1973, serving as a Field Wireman from 1971-1973. He retired in 2000 from a career as a Computer Technology and Engineering Information Design Associate with Alcatel-Lucena.

Laria enjoyed family, socializing with friends, gardening, BBQ-ing, and tinkering.

Laria was proceeded in death by his parents; son; Terrance L’Artis, brother; Possie Gammon, and sister; Shirley Gammon-Anderson.

Laria leaves to cherish his memories his special friend; Betty Gammon of Chicago IL, his brothers; Abdul Amin (Dana Bjarnason-Amin) of Houston TX, Jonathan Gammon (Carol) of South Holland IL, his sister; Barbara Williams of Lake View AR, his aunt; Earline McGinister of West Helena AR, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
