Visitation will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Springlake Baptist Church, Lexa Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines:  mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart. Mr. Martin's service may be viewed live through ZOOM. Claveland Martin was born November 25, 1958 to the late Charles E. Martin, Sr. and Roberta Gause. He departed this earthly life, receiving his heavenly reward February 21, 2023 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Claveland accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was a faithful member of Springlake Missionary Baptist Church, Lexa Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Robert Taylor and later, Reverend Garland Lee.

Claveland received his formal education within the Helena – West Helena School District.

Affectionately known as “Soybean,” he worked at T and S Sawmill for several years before becoming disabled.

Claveland united in Holy Matrimony to Carla Williams, December 17, 1995. Although no children were born, this twenty-seven year union blended a family of six children.

Soybean enjoyed farming, talking on the telephone, watching sports, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Claveland is preceded in death by his parents; Charles E. Martin, Sr., and Roberta Gause, brothers; Eugene Gause, Sr., Eddie Martin, Arthur Adams, Andrew Gause, Sr., brothers-in-law; Kenneth Winston, Sr., Earnest Davis, Jr., sisters; Charlene Martin, Velma Martin – Smith, and a son; Mykel Williams.

Cleveland leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife; Carla Martin of Lexa AR, children; Nicholas Martin of Helena AR, Henry Cordara (Angelina) Martin of San Diego CA, James Harris (April) Martin of West Helena AR, Reginald (Aleshia) Williams of Jonesboro AR, Shasta (Demario) Smith of Southaven MS, brothers; Leon (Pearline) Mayweather of Charlotte NC, Tommie (Juanita) Gause, Jr. of Southland Community AR, John Gause, Sr. of West Helena AR, Charles (Tracey) Martin, Jr. of Marvell AR, Willie (Tabora) Bell of Lancaster TX, sisters; Celestine (Edmond) Sims, Sr. of Marvell AR, Rosie Winston of Jonesboro AR, Carrie Martin of Southland Community AR, sisters-in-laws; Ruthie Gause, Gloria Gause, Kimberly Gause, Monica Jones, Myra Williams all of Southland Community AR, aunts; Margaret Bell of Chicago IL, Mable Pruitt of St. Louis MO, Charlene Pruitt of Atlanta GA, a special friend; Sam Dean, Jr. of Lexa AR, fifteen grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
