A LIFE REMEMBERED

Obituary

Edgar Wright, Sr. was born August 22, 1928, in Poplar Grove, Arkansas to the late Johnnie and Stella Mae Wright. Edgar accepted Christ at an early age at Tuckers Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Grove, Arkansas. All his life, Edgar was a farmer in and off season.  He worked at D & L of Marianna Arkansas, Chicago Mill of West Helena Arkansas, and at Telephone Tower of Phillips County. Edgar ensured his legacy continued with his grandson, Thomas Lee Wright, Jr.  He took young Thomas, Jr. under his wing early on and taught him “Life.” He shared his knowledge of farming and how to repair farm equipment. He called on Thomas, Jr. for many of the repair jobs that he encountered at home, knowing he could trust Thomas, Jr. to help him when he needed it the most. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents; Johnnie and Stella Mae Wright, one son; Edgar Wright, Jr., one daughter; Gwendolyn Wright Settles, two brothers and three sisters. Edgar leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 66 years; Verna Gill Wright of Poplar Grove AR, daughter; Dianne Wright Gray of Conway AR, daughter from a previous marriage; Stella (Dave) Caffey of Monroe AR, sons of current union; Thomas (Willene) L. Wright, Sr., Deverso Wright, Bobby (Annie Mae) Wright all of Marvell AR, Ray Wright of Little Rock AR, brothers; Larry (Audrey) Wright, Delta Wright both of Chicago IL, Elder Maurice (Ester) Wright, Sr. of Horn Lake MS, sister; Linda (Jo) Wright Wilborn of Cincinnati OH and a host of other sons, daughters, brother, sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
