Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Helena Arkansas from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service will promptly start at 11:00 at Beautiful Zion Missionary Church, Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas.
Sister Carolyn L. Ashwood was born November 9, 1941 to the late Emma Sharp Rembert and James Henry Jones of Jasper, Alabama. The family moved to Helena, Arkansas and she joined Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J.W. Webb, later under the leadership of Reverend Danny Robinson.
Sister Carolyn was the wife of the late Nathan Ashwood, Sr. At this time, she joined the Second Baptist Church, West Helena Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Jarvis Smith. After the death of her husband she rejoined Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Sister Carolyn later moved to Memphis, Tennessee and join the Ascension Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie S. Williams, Jr. She remained faithful until her departure.
Sister Carolyn was employed as a custodian with the Helena – West Helena School District for several years. She later started her own business as Ashwood Janitorial Service.
Sister Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother; Richard L. Hatch, two sisters; Gloria Dean Davison and Dorothy Jean Littlejohn.
Sister Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory four sisters; Lena L. Fair of Memphis TN, Amie Hatch of New York NY, Tracie Sanders, Joann Gray both of Memphis TN, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
