Visitation will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at First Baptist Church Midland Heights, Helena Arkansas at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas.

Sister Sarah Lee Evans -Sample of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas at the age of 77 years old, passed away December 25, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.

Sister Sarah Lee Evans-Sample was born on June 1, 1941, to the union of the late Mr. Lee Evans, Sr. and Mrs. Willie G. Evans in Elaine, Arkansas. The family moved to Midland Heights in 1948, where she confessed a hope in Christ in 1952, at the First Missionary Baptist Church, Midland Heights under the leadership of Reverend A.N. Hall. She then joined the Junior Choir. During her tenure at First Missionary Baptist, Sister Sample served as Church Secretary, Supervisor of the Youth Choir, Adult Choir Director, and Choir Treasure. She was a member of the Evening Star Chapter 374.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony on August 21, 1966 to Mr. Leroy Sample, to this union one child was born, Ms. Natalie Sample-Parks.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Mr. Leroy Sample, her parents; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Evans, three brothers; Charles, Andrew and Robert Evans, two sisters; Geraldine and Priscilla Evans.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her daughter; Natalie Sample-Parks of Memphis TN, four grandsons; Dexter Williams of Lawton OK, Camille “CC” Sample, Elton Parks III, Majik Parks all of Memphis TN, four great grandchildren; O’Marrion Williams, Alexandria Williams, Camille “CJ” Sample, Mason “Leroy” Parks, three sisters; Virginia Bailey, Sylvia Terry both of Chicago IL, Barbara Morris of Baltimore MA, three brothers; Lee (Hannalore) Evans of Colorado Springs CO, James (Angela) Evans of Los Angeles CA, George (Linda) Evans of Daleville AL, one uncle; Benjamin Franklin of Helena-West Helena AR and a host nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
