Visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Church of the Living God, 700 East Park, West Helena AR from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will promptly begin at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Living God, 700 East Park, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas.
Mary Elizabeth Johnson was born July 26, 1947 to the late Sam and Mattie Brown in West Helena, Arkansas. She transitioned from this earthly life April 12, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age at the Church of the Living God Pillar Ground of Truth, West Helena Arkansas. She devoted her time and talents to the church working as usher and wherever else she was needed. She remained active and faithful until her health began to decline.
April 16, 1971 was the date she joined in Holy Matrimony to Robert Lee Johnson, Sr. To this union of fifty-one years, six children blended as a family.
Mary was not a stranger to hard work. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for fifty-four years. She worked at various medical facilities, such as: Crestpark Nursing Home, Helena Regional Medical Center, and lastly, Phillips County Health Department were she officially entered her retirement.
Throughout life, Mary enjoyed cooking, shopping, and mission work. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband; Robert Johnson, Sr., parents; Sam and Mattie Brown, a sister; Samella Brown, son; Harold Johnson, daughters; Crystal Johnson, and Mary Finley.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories her children; Robert (Charlotte) Johnson, Jr. of Katy TX, Venus (Leroy) Marshall of Pine Bluff AR, Valerie Finley of West Helena AR, siblings; Anna Brown, Larry Brown, Elder Herman Brown, Ocie Brown all of Helena – West Helena AR, Jacqueline Brown of Norfolk VA, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
