Walter “Jack, Jr.” Clay Scaife, III was born on August 19, 1948, to the late Mae Frances Kendricks and the late Walter Scaife, Jr. in Helena, Arkansas. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.  Jack Jr. confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church in West Helena, Arkansas.

He graduated from Eliza Miller High School in 1966 and later received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force after serving in the Vietnam conflict.  While he was known as “Jack, Jr.” growing up, he became known as “Walter Jack” by his coworkers at Entergy Systems, Incorporated, where he faithfully worked as a Maintenance Mechanic from 1985-2011.

In high school, he was called a “star” basketball player by his classmates and he never lost his love for sports.  He continued to play both basketball and softball on the Mechanical Maintenance teams for Entergy Systems.  His teammates still have fond memories of his sportsmanship.  His other claims to fame were his stellar grilling skills, avid video game playing and love for hitting the road to see his family.

Jack, Jr. is preceded in death by his father; Walter Scaife, Jr., his mother; Mae Frances Kendricks Scaife, and his brothers; Don Wesley, Sr. and Earnest “Bo” Scaife. He is survived by his daughters; Deana (Kenneth) Davis of Omaha NE, Kantrell (Don) Bradley of Tulsa OK, and Francine (Tiffany) Scaife of San Antonio TX, his brother; Austin Scaife of Conway AR, two sisters; Audrey (Michael) Sue Burchett of Barton AR, Laverne Scaife of Concord CA, and many cherished family and friends.
