Norvell Golden Sr. (Also known as “Check It Out”) was born on July 14, 1954, to the late Christine Golden Jakes and Cornelius Jakes Sr. His biological father was the late Charles Harden. He was baptized at Pleasant Joy Missionary Baptist Church and later became a faithful member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Helena, Arkansas. He united in Holy Matrimony to Gail Collins Golden in 1978, and from this union a beautiful family was formed. He departed this life on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 9:22 a.m.

He attended school in the Barton School District and received his high school diploma while serving in the United States Army. Norvell honorably served eight years in the United States Army within the Field Artillery Branch. His military service included extensive training in artillery operations, tactical readiness, and unit support responsibilities, and he received numerous medals and awards in recognition of his dedication and service. Following his honorable military service, Norvell worked as a dedicated truck driver for many years, earning respect throughout the industry.
