Remembering the Amazing Journey of

Brother James D. Alexander, II

July 30, 1950  ~   August 21, 2025

His Beginning Journey

James Douglas Alexander, II was born to the late Superintendent James Alexander, I and Missionary Josephine Martin Alexander on July 30, 1950 in West Helena, Arkansas.  His parents grew very closely attached to their only child. They surrounded him with love, sound values, and a deep devotion toward God.

His Education and Work Journey

James received his early education while attending West Side School in West Helena, Arkansas.   Later, he attended Eliza Miller High School and graduated with the class of 1968.

James continued his educational pursuit at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (formerly known as Agricultural, Mechanical, and Normal College).  He graduated with the class of 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry.

With the desire to advance his career, he moved to Saginaw, Michigan.  It was there, he was gainfully employed by the DOW Corning, Incorporated as a Research Chemist.  While in Michigan, he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, Graduate Chapter.  He was also a proud Prince Hall Mason.

The next employment opportunity led him to Little Rock, Arkansas where he worked with IBM as a Sales Representative and eventually Marketing Manager.  During that time, he was transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he completed his tenure for over thirty years.

James continued to expand his job opportunities in various dimensions such as a licensed Real Estate Agent and as a dedicated Insurance Representative for United Healthcare.

But his passion was the field of music!  In high school, he played the clarinet in the band. He was a “DJ” for a radio station in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and later in Saginaw, Michigan.  He was active in serving as a “DJ” in various events.  James worked in controlling the sound system for mega churches in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

His Religious Journey

At an early age, the gospel was instilled in him by his father, Pastor J. D. Alexander, I.  He eventually accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the St. James Temple COGIC in Marianna, Arkansas.  He worked in the church in various capacities such as directing the choir and in the youth department.

At the time of his demise, he was a member of the St. James Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma under the leadership of Pastor Ruby Freese.

His Family Life Journey

James married his childhood sweetheart, Ms. Joanne Hayes of West Helena, Arkansas, and to this union was born two daughters and one son: Joy, James III, and Jasmine.

Later in life, he married Ms. Lori Jean and to this union was born one daughter and one son: Taylor and Jeffrey.  He was very proud of each child and loved them dearly.

After the death of his father, James became the sole guardian of his mother, Missionary Josephine Alexander.  He cherished his family as well as his mother.  But during the prime of his life, his health began to fail.  But in spite of that, he continued to push on.  Finally, he was called from labor to reward on August 21, 2025 in a health facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He had to submit to the will of infinite will of the Almighty God!
