Obituaries

Daniel Swopes, II was born December 6, 1957 to the late Daniel and Lillie Swopes, Sr. in Helena, Arkansas. He transitioned from this earthly life receiving his heavenly reward May 30, 2025 at his residence in Helena, Arkansas.

Daniel accepted the Lord as his personal Savior under the leadership of the late Elder Richard Howard at the Church of the Living God Pillar and Ground of Truth in West Helena, Arkansas. He was a dedicated member until his health began to decline.

Daniel received his formal education within the Helena – West Helena School District. He was a proud graduate of Central High School Class of 1975. During his Junior High and Senior High School Years he was no stranger to sports. Football afforded him the opportunity to continue his education at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. There he excelled on the field until an injury forced him to pursue another avenue. He then decided to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army.

Daniel was united in Holy Matrimony to Debra Wright February 2, 1995. To this union two children were born and a family blended.

After returning to the Helena – West Helena area, Daniel worked various jobs but retired from Phillips County Community College of the University of Arkansas as Security Supervisor.

Daniel was a true Michael Jackson fan. He enjoyed countless hours of listening to his music and watching western movies starring John Wayne. He loved spending time with family; especially his grandchildren.

Daniel is preceded in death by parents; Daniel and Lillie Swopes, Sr., siblings; Ella Shepard, Carolyn Swopes-Britton, and Daniel “Red” Swopes, Jr.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memories his wife; Debra Swopes of Helena AR, children; Juan Demar Swopes, Adam Dominque Swopes both of Helena AR, Kimberly (Kaddrin Frierson) Denise Wright of West Helena AR, siblings; Edward (Elizabeth) Swopes of Helena AR, Gregory Swopes of West Helena AR, Kenny (Tracie) Swopes, Jermaine Swopes, Keith Swopes all of Little Rock AR, Anderson (Patricia) Vaughn of Tacoma WA, Doris Bush of Memphis TN, Vivian Swopes, Tammie Swopes, Necole Swopes all of Little Rock AR, Erica Williams of Helena AR, two childhood friends; Willie Davis, Jr., Louis Roberts both of Helena AR, five grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
