With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Hannah Charmane Gatling Dozier, who departed this life peacefully on March 4, 2025, at her home.
Hannah was born on March 20, 1963, to Emogene Reeves and Price Purifoy. She was lovingly raised in Forrest City, Arkansas, by her mother; Emogene, and stepfather; James Millard. A proud graduate of Forrest City High School, Class of 1982, Hannah was an active member of the school band. She carried her love of music and connection to her community throughout her life. After high school, she attended East Arkansas Community College before enlisting in the United States Army, where she served with honor from 1985 to 1987.
Following her military service, Hannah pursued her education with determination, earning an Associate Degree in Accounting from Arkansas State University and an Associate Degree in Business from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. She went on to dedicate herself to public service, working as a social worker for the State of Arkansas. Her career was tragically cut short after a catastrophic neurological injury sustained in a trucking accident, but her resilience and strength in the face of adversity were a testament to her character.
Hannah was the devoted wife of the late Thomas Dozier, a loving mother to her son, James Robert Gatling, and a proud grandmother to her cherished grandson, James Patrick Gatling. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother; Hannah Reeves, beloved mother; Emogene Reeves-Millard, her siblings; Anthony Reeves, Deborah Kay Reeves, Cassandra Reeves, Wilma Gatling-Hull, and her husband; Thomas Dozier.
Hannah is survived by her son; James Robert Gatling, her grandson; James Patrick Gatling, who will forever carry her love and memory in their hearts. She also leaves behind three uncles; Harold (Nell) Reeves, Willard (Mary) Reeves, Wilbert (Shirley) Reeves, her sister; Ceceila Gatling, her stepsister; Pattie Miller, her nieces; Sherocko James, Candy Gatling, Christy Gatling, her nephews; Meghanas Gatling, Cambron Gatling, and a host of extended family members, dear friends who will remember her for her radiant spirit, her warmth, and her unwavering devotion.
In her youth, Hannah was a vivacious and free-spirited soul who embraced life with enthusiasm and a deep love for those around her. Her energy, kindness, and extroverted nature left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Though her life was not without challenges, she faced them with courage, grace, and an enduring commitment to her family and loved ones.
** In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Hannah’s memory to **St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital**, a cause close to her heart.
Hannah Charmane Gatling Dozier will be remembered for her strength, her compassion, and the light she brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on through her family and friends. May she rest in eternal peace.
