Annie K. Lindsey was born February 10, 1943, to the late Sandy, Sr. and Annie Knowlton. She was the fourth child out of thirteen children and was the oldest daughter.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age at Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, West Helena, Arkansas.
Annie married the late Robert Owen Lee Alexander, Sr. and to this union three children were born, Marlowe Alexander, Robert Alexander, Jr., and Earnest Alexander.
Affectionately known as “Annie Mae” first loved God, her family, peace & tranquility, baking, and helping others. The love she had for others extended into her work life. For many years she worked as a caregiver within the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging where she aided the elderly of the community.
In June of 1992, Annie Mae was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Harry Lindsey. Although no children were born, they blended into a family.
Annie Mae later joined Springlake Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher and was president of the Mother Board until health began to decline.
For many years, Annie was also the Worthy Matron of Evening Star #374, Order of the Eastern Star, PHA, and a Loyal Lady of Helena/West Helena Assembly #258, Order of the Golden Circle.
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, surrounded by her grandchildren, Annie Mae was called home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Annie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Peter, Sandy, Jr., Earl, Hosea, Joseph, Ineal Knowlton, sisters; Martha, Mary Knowlton, three sons; Marlowe, Robert, Earnest; and a granddaughter; Ebanek Alexander.
