Rosie Lee Smith was born on July 25, 1941, to the late Beatrice and Joe Dockens of Winstonville, Mississippi. Rosie Lee began her education in Mound Bayou and later earned her GED, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and growth.

Rosie’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She fully surrendered to God and humbled herself before Him, allowing Him to guide her every step. She accepted Christ on February 2, 1975, at Lampton Street Church of Christ in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, and returned to her hometown in Lexa, Arkansas, where she attended the local church of Christ congregation. Rosie Lee lived out her faith by touching the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.

For 30+ years, Rosie Lee was employed as a machine operator at Doughboy, where she was known for her hard work, reliability, and strong work ethic. In addition to her career at Doughboy, Rosie was a talented entrepreneur—working as a seamstress and caterer, skills she honed and shared generously with her community.

Like a “diamond in the rough,” Rosie was a precious gem to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was deeply devoted to her family, frequently visiting and ensuring their well-being. Rosie’s generosity extended to everyone she encountered, as she was always thinking of others and seeking ways to help.

Rosie’s memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched with her warmth, faith, and selflessness. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She leaves to cherish her memories her siblings Sylvester Dockens (Rose), Jonathan Dockens (Anita), Pasty Williams, Edna Davis (Melvin), Erma Williams (Boyd), and Susan Olufotebi (Joseph). Her children, Mack Henry Dockens (Tina) and Marie Ellis (Pierre). Grandchildren Alfred Black Jr., Jamacia Black, Kela Harris, LaQuentus Dockens (Tameschia), Nicole Dockens, Monique Ellis, Moneé Ellis, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Rosie Mary Black, and four siblings, Vernice Thomas, Charlie Mae Harris, Roosevelt Dockens, and Thomas Dockens.

She passed away after a life well-lived, filled with dedication, love, and service to those around her. Rosie Lee Smith is survived by her beloved family and countless friends who will miss her deeply. Her spirit and impact will live on in the hearts of those who loved her
