Visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips, Lee, Monroe, and Desha District Center, Helena Crossing, Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at New Zion Cemetery, West Helena Arkansas.
Mikel Dwayne Booker was born August 3, 1964 in Helena, Arkansas to the late Solomon Booker, Sr. and Delores Young. He transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home November 26, 2024.
Mikel accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He attended various local area churches along the way of his Christian journey.
Mikel received his formal education within the Helena – West Helena School District. He was employed at A & Z Market, a job he loved. He also worked as a landscaper. Mikel was considered a “Jack of All Trades.” Needless to say, he led a happy courageous life, one that was infectious to those he encountered.
Mikel had a love for dancing and playing basketball. He had a sense of humor that always brought about a joke. He also had a passion for shopping, but his ultimate pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
Mikel made a positive impact on the community and he especially had a love for the children. He had the biggest heart ever.
Mikel is preceded in death by his father; Solomon Booker, Sr., his mother; Delores Young, his grandmother; Alberta Hollowell, five uncles, six aunts, two nieces; Telisha Harris, Acquala Lindsey, and one great nephew; Jamarius Reese.
Mikel leaves to cherish his memories seven sisters; Laverne Booker, Minnie (Curtis) Tobar, Shelia Booker all of Helena – West Helena AR, Michelle Booker of Jonesboro AR, Deloris Booker of Collierville TN, Jennett Vincent Booker of Plano TX, Debra (James) Booker Lindsey of Omaha NE, one brother; Solomon Booker, Jr. of Nashville TN, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
