Dorothy Mae Eskridge Johnson was born February 11, 1961 in Shelby County, Memphis Tennessee to her parents Andrew and Bobbie Eskridge. Dorothy grew up in the City of Memphis, Tennessee; she was the sixth of seven children. She considered herself the “Baby Girl” and always wanted to be spoiled and she was. Dorothy was introduced to the Pentecostal Holiness Faith through her parents who took the family to the “Sanctified Church.” While she experienced some challenges in her life, she believed strongly in the teachings of Holiness that she was exposed to as a young lady. She attended the Memphis City Schools and ended her public-school education at Booker T. Washington High School.

After high school, Dorothy met and later married Mr. Troy Johnson, United States Navy Retired. As a military spouse, these were some of the most enjoyable times as they relocated to various military bases including Cuba.

After she returned to the United States and the Memphis area, she began working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various medical facilities. Dorothy later moved to Helena, Arkansas and continued to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Caregiver until she became disabled. Dorothy was and is a much loved aunt to all her family and especially to her nieces and nephews. LeKesha Bee lived in the home with Dorothy and Troy for a few years. Dorothy also named her nephew, Terrance Deshawn Bee.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her father; Andrew Eskridge, a grandmother; Rosie L. Miller, an aunt; Willie J. Williams, brothers; Ollie J. Winters, Clarence E. Winters, Andrew Eskridge, Jr., sister; Mary Taylor, sister-in-law; Erma J. Eskridge, and beloved cousins; John L. Williams and Clint Thomas.

Dorothy is survived by her mother; Bobbie J. Eskridge, sisters; Carolyn (Robert) Robison, Shirley Richardson, Rosemary Bee, a brother; John Lewis Eskridge, an uncle who she dearly loved; Tommie C. (Louise) Thomas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
