Visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips, Lee, Monroe, and Desha District Center, Helena Crossing, Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Mount Olive Cemetery, Oneida Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines: mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.
Frances C. Stackhouse was born December 10, 1946 to the late Elijah Clarence, Sr. and Eva Lee Cornelious in Barton, Arkansas. She transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home with our Lord and Savior, July 17, 2024 at Crestpark of Helena, Helena Arkansas.
Frances was a proud graduate of C.V. White High School, Lakeview Arkansas Class of 1965. She continued her education at the Agricultural, Mechanical, and Normal College, today known as University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Pine Bluff Arkansas. She finished her course of studies in 1970. In 1971, she married the late Carl E. Washington. To this union one child was born. She later went on to complete the course work to receive a master’s degree at Henderson State University, Arkadelphia Arkansas.
Frances was an Educator for over forty-five years. Throughout her career, she has worked within the Hot Springs, Barton, and Marianna Public School Districts.
Frances accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized at First Missionary Baptist Church, Oneida, Arkansas under the leadership of the late Reverend Sterling King. She continued her Christian journey as a devoted church member, singing in the choir, Church Secretary of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Oneida Arkansas and Calvery Missionary Baptist Church, Barton Arkansas.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents; Elijah Clarence and Eva Lee Cornelious, Sr., brothers; Elijah Cornelious, Jr., Christopher Cornelious, Lloyd Cornelious, sister; Blossie Bailey, and one stepson; Phillip Stackhouse.
Frances is survived by her only son; Reginald Washington of Pine Bluff AR, siblings; Annie Bell Cornelious of West Helena AR, Juanita Cornelious of Memphis TN, Genora Cornelious of West Helena AR, Josephine Cornelious of Barton AR, Barbara (John) Armor of Tupelo MS, two sisters-in-law; Constance Cornelious, Betty Cornelious both of West Helena AR, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, colleagues, and students.
