Visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2024 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Church of the Living God Pillar and Ground of Truth, 201 Memphis Street, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at First Baptist Cemetery, Elaine Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines: mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.
Mother Kate Hart, age 99, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 30, 2024. She was born on May 11, 1925, to the late Mary Cleveland Thomas in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the third of four children. Mother Kate confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Church of the Living God the Pillar and Ground of the Truth. She grew up in Moonlake, Mississippi where she met the love of her life, George “GW” Hart, to this union they were blessed with thirteen loving children.
Mother Hart was a devoted wife and loving mother. She later moved to Elaine, Arkansas with her family. She was preceded in death by her mother; Mary Cleveland Thomas, two brothers; Alex Thomas, Walter Lee Thomas, one sister; Daisy Mae Magsby, and six children; Gloria Dean, George, Alex, Ike, Estelle, and Ollie Mae Hart.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children; Christine Howse of Detroit MI, Robert (Patricia) Hart of Chicago IL, Earnestine (Otis) Hart of Walls MS, Earl Hart of St. Louis MO, June Hart of West Helena AR, Mary Hart of Elaine AR, Jeffrey Hart of Detroit MI, 49 grandchildren, 107 great-grandchildren, 57 great-great grandchildren, 3 great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a wonderful church family in Christ.
