Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines: mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.
Lucinda R. Thomas was born January 3, 1934, in Monroe, Arkansas to Albert Pitts and Hattie Ross. She was an only child.
Lucinda Pitts met Willie T. Thomas in the year 1953 and dedicated her life to helping him raise six children, that lost their mother in 1951. They became a united family for 71 years until her death. Lucinda and Willie Thomas were married for over 52 years. Lucinda R. Thomas received Christ as her Savior. She united with True Vine Baptist Church in 1957, until her health failed her. She was a faithful, loving and caring member. Lucinda was also a part of the choir. She worked as a caregiver in many homes. She cooked and worked for many prominent families in Phillips County, Arkansas. She enjoyed traveling and being around her family and friends. Her family loved her cooking, and she was known for her delicious coconut cakes. She had even taught her son Eddie Lee how to make her special coconut cakes, a tradition he shared with his family. Lucinda R. Thomas was a leader for the Boy Scouts of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. Most of all she loved being around her children and grandchildren. She believed in making people smile by laughing and joking. She had a gift of taking care of people, which will always be remembered by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Eddie Lee Thomas of Lexa, Arkansas, her beloved granddaughter Lita (Richard) Robinson of Lexa, Arkansas whom she raised as her own daughter, Goddaughter Sylier Roddy of Conway, Ark., Goddaughter Felicia Hall of West Helena, Ark, Cousin Andrew Smith of Memphis, TN., Great friend Dorthy Tate of West Helena, Ark. She is preceded in death by her husband Willie T. Thomas, her parents Hattie Ross and Albert Pitts, her stepchildren Willie T Thomas, Dorothy Kirks, Sadie Hanks, Betty Thomas and Garland Thomas. She is survived by one son,16 grandchildren, thirty-seven great grands, fifty-one great great grands and seven great, great, great grands and a host of friends.
