Frank “Pete” Wilson, Jr., was born on February 24, 1945 in Helena, Arkansas to the union of Frank and Leola Wilson. He had a special bond with his parents, living with and caring for them until they preceded him in death.
Anyone who knew Pete, knew that he didn’t play when it came to his cars! He inherited his father’s love of cars, and was known for keeping a new and well kept car at all times. As a young child, he was adamant about not wanting to own or learn to ride a bike because he was only interested in owning and driving a car!
His relationship with his big sister, Clarene “Beulah” was special as well. As kids, she lovingly gave him the nickname Pete, and he nicknamed her Fruity. Pete and Fruity would often go to the movie theater in downtown Helena, enjoying sweets while watching the show. Over the decades their adoration of each other never waned. Talking on the phone every week, they maintained their special big sister, little brother bond until his passing.
Pete attended Eliza Miller High School and worked at PYCO Industries for many years before taking an early retirement in 2004 as the result of a work-related injury. He enjoyed the simple things in life and took pleasure in washing his car, driving around town, watching old westerns on television, and talking to and spending time with his many cousins.
Pete peacefully closed his eyes and received the Lord’s call on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. In addition to his parents, his eldest niece, Marilyn Dran Smith preceded him in death.
Although Pete’s season on earth has ended, his life will be cherished and remembered by his sister, Clarene McCormick of Chicago, IL; daughter, Dorothy (Kirby) Andrews and granddaughters, Amber and Jada Andrews of Bolingbrook, IL; nieces, Tarsha McCormick of Austin, TX, Renee (Wayne) Williams and Latrice McCormick of Chicago, IL; Gabrielle (Leroy) Lang of South Holland, IL; nephews, Cedric McCormick of Chicago, IL and Anthony (Delania) McCormick of Hazel Crest, IL; aunt, Dorothy Franklin of West Helena, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
