Visitation will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel,126 Panama Road, West Helena AR from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips, Lee, Monroe, and Desha District Center, Helena Crossing, Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines: mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.
Ervin Patrick Calhoun, Sr. was born August 22, 1983 to Priscilla Calhoun – Dockery and Percy Smith in Helena, Arkansas. He transitioned from this earthly life July 9, 2023 in Helena, Arkansas.
Ervin accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. He visited various churches while on his Christian journey.
Ervin received his formal education within the Helena – West Helena School District. He was a proud graduate of Central High School Class of 2001. He furthered his education at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas, Helena Arkansas where he earned an associate degree.
Ervin was a hard worker and very ambitious. He was employed at Viserion Grain as an Administrator of Industrial Operations. He successfully established and operated his own lawn service, Calhoun Lawn Care.
Ervin was united in Holy Matrimony to Felicia Jones Calhoun. To this union no children were born but a family was blended.
Affectionately known as “Peter,” he had many interests. He enjoyed traveling and watching football. He was a New Orleans Saints fanatic and would attend their games when his schedule permitted. He considered himself as a “grill master,” but was a good baker. In his world, he possessed the profound talent of “singing,” to everyone else, not so much. Most of all, he especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ervin is preceded in death by his siblings; Derrick Greer, Angela Larry, and his father-in-law; Lemont Jones.
Ervin leaves to cherish his memories a wife; Felicia Calhoun, two loving children; Ervin Calhoun, Jr., Arvin Calhoun, a bonus child; Sebashan Gardner, parents; Priscilla (Robert) Calhoun – Dockery, Percy Smith, ten brothers; Markelius Calhoun, Thomas (Shadreka) Hunter, Allen Ray (Kendra) Smith, Denzel Calhoun, James Lee, Eric (Jameela) Jones, Kortie Dockery, Kecedric Dockery, Julius (Sondra) Dockery, Darren (Nikia) Dockery, six sisters; Stephanie Calhoun, Lutasha Calhoun, Isis Watson, Tamika (Mike) Watson, Patresa (Arizona) Logan, Robin Dockery, mother-in-law; Sadie (Tommy) Thompson, two sisters-in-law; Jennifer Williams, Demetrius Hawkins, Godson; Michael Alexander, III, a best friend; LaPrece Stayton, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and beloved friends.
