There will not be a visitation. Memorial Service will be held June 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 167 West Park Street, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines:  mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.

Phyllis Ann Calvin was born to the Late Freddie Lee Calvin and Lena Mae Williams-Calvin, in Helena, Arkansas, on April 2, 1967. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age, under the Pastorship of Reverend J.W. Webb, at Beautiful Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Helena, Arkansas. She departed this life at the age of 56, on June 1, 2023, in Cordova, Tennessee.

Phyllis Ann was a very memorable person to most people. She graduated from Central High School, in West Helena, Arkansas, in the class of 1985. After high school, Phyllis served in the United States Air Force for over 12 years. She returned back to Arkansas, where she enrolled and completed some general coursework, at Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas, which also started her work career.  She then decided to continue and further her educational growth, in education, at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where she received a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree, in Early Childhood Education.  After college, Phyllis began her teaching career goal, as an effective educator. A few of Phyllis’ many fine qualities were commitment, honesty and persistence in going the extra mile that granted her the abilities to succeed and become successful in all of her endeavors during her lifetime.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; Freddie and Lena Mae Calvin, maternal grand aunt and uncle; Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Williams, paternal grandparents; William and Roberta Calvin, one sister; Annette Calvin, four brothers; Fred Calvin, Allen Calvin, Johnny Ray Calvin, Anthony Calvin, one nephew; DaJuan “Brian” Brown, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She leaves to cherish many loving memories, two sisters; Allison Hope (Willard) Brooks of Helena-West Helena AR,  Erika (Jarrett) Price of Richland Hill TX, two sisters-in-law; Deborah Larry-Calvin of Conway AR, Lucy Calvin of Marianna AR, two uncles; William Calvin of Southland AR, Samuel Calvin of St. Louis MO, two aunts; Ever Jean Calvin of Southland AR, Mattie Calvin of St. Louis MO, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
