Visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, 126 Panama Road, West Helena AR from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will promptly began at 2:00 p.m at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, 126 Panama Road, West Helena AR. We will follow CDC guidelines:  mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.

Sherry Denise Steele Witherspoon was born June 13, 1978 in West Helena, Arkansas to the late Willie Ann Hargrow and Orin Steele, Sr.

Sherry accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church, West Helena Arkansas.

Sherry received her formal education within the Helena – West Helena School District. She later attended Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas where she obtained her GED.

In her youth, Sherry was employed at Gold Strike Casino as a gift shop attendant. She was later employed at Kid’s For the Future in many capacities but was well known as everyone’s favorite “Kitchen Lady” aka “Culinary Staff.”

Through her journey at Kids For the Future, she established many lifelong friendships.

Some of her hobbies included listening to music especially the blues, making jokes, making memories, line dancing and enjoying life.

Sherry was a kind, warm, and loving person. She would open her doors and heart to anyone in need. She was also known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and caring for her children, husband, and sister.

On April 25, 2023 she gained her wings in her home. She was preceded in death by her mother; Willie Hargrow, father; Orin Steele, two special friends; Shante Luckett and Beverly Brown Hayes.

Sherry leaves to cherish her memories her husband; Cartilyou Witherspoon, Jr., one daughter; Malaysia Witherspoon, one son; Cartilyou Witherspoon, III, eleven sisters; Judy Fitzgerald, Tameka Steele, Shonte Steele, Ola Mae Steele, Jennifer Steele, Rita Cheffen, Kisha Robinson, Jocelyn Washington, Stacey Glass, Stephanie Turner, Cassandra Garner, one brother; Danny Steele, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
