Mr. Johnson visitation will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena AR from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will he held Sunday, July 8, 2018 at King Soloman M.B. Church, West Helena AR at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Magnolia Cemetery, Helena AR.
Mr. Ethelman Lee Johnson, 80, crossed the threshold of life on September 14, 1937 in West-Helena, Ar. to the late Mr. Wesley Johnson, Sr. and Mrs. Gertrude Johnson.
He attended Eliza Miller High School. He declared his hope in Jesus Christ at an early age under the leadership of Dr. H.R. Stephenson at the King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church. He took pleasure in attending Sunday School, worship service, BTU, YPWW, and Arkansas Baptist Convention.
Lee never treated anyone as a stranger on this journey called life. He was loved and respected by many, young and old, which showed in his profession as a private duty home caregiver for many years. Shortly after, he became employed by the Phillips County Health Dept. as a Public Health Technician (formerly known as Home Health Aide) where he took pride in his work and enjoyed being of service to his patients.
Those that really knew Lee can attest to his style of fashion when it came to his clothes and his sunglasses, whether day or night. He also enjoyed listening to diverse genres of music, frequenting the American Legion Hut for bingo nights, and spending quality time with his family.
On June 26th, 2018, GOD called Lee from his earthly vessel to his Heavenly home. He made a peaceful transition surrounded by his family at his home in Murfreesboro, TN. He was proceeded in death by his eldest son Ethelman Wesley Johnson; his parents Wesley and Gertrude Johnson, Sr.; seven sisters Jessie Mae Johnson, Earnestein and Loistein Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Pearlie Mae Johnson, Lucille Johnson-Beckwood, and Theresa Johnson-Carpenter; and three brothers; Curtis Johnson, Herman Johnson, Sr., and Wesley Johnson, Jr.
He leaves to celebrate his home-going, a loving and devoted daughter Theresa Johnson (Rockell) of Murfreesboro, Tn.; a loving and caring son Alfonzo Johnson, Sr. (Tracy) of Jacksonville, Fl.,another son Donyel Johnson (Sarah) of Memphis TN; four wonderful grandsons Justin Johnson of Memphis, TN, Carlos Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tn, Alfonzo Johnson, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl, and Kenneth Davis, Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tn; two amazing granddaughters Kiara Johnson of Jacksonville, Fl. and Destiny Davis of Murfreesboro, Tn; two step-grandsons Lonnie Gay of Jacksonville, Fl. and Eric Taylor, Jr. of Murfreesboro, Tn.; a great-grandson Alfonzo Johnson, III of Jacksonville, Fl.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins and friends.
