Visitation will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena AR from 4 - 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at New Haven Baptist Church, West Helena AR at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa AR.
Sammy Pruitt, Jr. was born on July 25, 1969 to Loistene Dean and Sammy Pruitt, Sr. He was affectionately called “Baby June.” Sammy “Baby June” had a loving and giving personality. He loved his family and friends, and he never knew a stranger. Baby June was a perfect combination of a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and son. He most definitely loved his nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Sammy “Baby June” received his education in the Helena-West Helena School District. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and later united with the Beautiful Zion M.B. Church, under the leadership of Reverend Danny Robinson. He remained faithful until his health failed.
Sammy “Baby June” received his wing on Saturday, April 28, 2018 with his wife and family surrounded by his side.
He is preceded in death by his mother; Loistene Dean Pruitt, Shelia Pruitt, Sammy Pruitt, III, maternal grandparents; Ophelia Madden and Sam Dean, Sr., Johnny (Mary) Billingsley, Charlie and Minnie Bell Pruitt.
Sammy “Baby June” leaves to cherish his loving memories a devoted wife Bobbie Pruitt, his parents; Sammy (Jackie) Pruitt, Sr. and David (Patsy) Billingsley both of West Helena AR, seven children; Parece Pruitt, Sameka (Latricia) Pruitt, Jordan Pruitt, Gloria Spencer, Keith (Erma) Scoggins, Carletta Scoggins, Harvey Carlton, four sisters; Jennifer (Eric) Johnson, Angela (Marcus) Billingsley, Cindy (Greg) Smith all of West Helena AR, Keona Henderson of Little Rock AR, five brothers; Michael (Leslie) Pruitt, Demarcus Billingsley both of West Helena AR, Darius Billingsley of Ft. Worth TX, David (Shenese) Billingsley, Jr. of Yukoa OK, Lamont Pruitt of Atlanta GA, eight aunts; Peggy Romar, Linda Livingston, Dorothy Dean, Mae Thelma (Lonzo) Perry, Mary Jean (James) Wright, Brenda (Darrian) Carruth, Lydia Pruitt, Shirley Pruitt, five uncles; Charlie Pruitt, Lloyd (Tammie) Pruitt, Ovell (Josephine) Scott, Sr., Sam (Loretta) Dean, George Dean, one great aunt, Jessie Mae Smith, eight sister-in-laws; Georgia Heard of CA, Viola Blake of Flint MI, Bertha Williams, Easter (John) Cagel, Dana (James) King, Pearlie Otis, Sallie (Tommy) Cooley, six brother-in-laws; Ivory Jefferson, Cedell (Cynethia) Otis, Odell Otis, Leon Collin, John Otis, Jessie Otis, fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
