Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 167 Park Street, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, West Helena Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines:  mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart. Centenarian, Mrs. Cleinix Cheatam was called home to be with the Lord August 30, 2022. She was born February 13, 1922 to the late Hosea and Idella Young in Wabash, Arkansas. She later moved to West Helena, Arkansas.

Cleinix accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age. She later joined Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, West Helena Arkansas.

Cleinix united in Holy Matrimony to Willie C. Cheatam in 1949.  This union of sixty-three years was blessed with eight children.

Cleinix was a housewife for many years. She later went outside the home to work for Dr. Paine and babysit for the Sanders family. She loved working in her yard and planting flowers. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and other community children. She was a fun and loving person. She loved to cook and feed the neighborhood children.

Cleinix lived at 228 Longbell most her life. She even gave birth to four of her children at her home.

Cleinix is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years; Willie C. Cheatam, two sons; Gene Autry Young, Benart Cheatam, one daughter; Willie Mae Waldron, two grandsons; Reginald Harrell, Gary Allen Cheatham, one granddaughter; Kish Young, five brothers; Hosea Young, Jr., John Ivy Young, Andrew Young, Ben Young, Bill Young, five sisters; Ora Searcy, Hattie Hays, Odessa Marshall, Vera Cooper, Dora Fields, and many nephews and nieces.

Cleinix leaves behind three sons; Robert “Bob” Cheatam of Idella OK, Oliver (Charlene) Cheatam of West Helena AR, Robert “Beaver” (Ida) Cheatam of West Helena AR, two daughters; Shirley Pope of West Helena AR, Delois Parker of Little Rock AR, a grandson she raised as her own; Gary (Diane) Cheatham of Horn Lake MS, two daughters-in-law; Lawania Cheatam of Little Rock AR, Catherine Young of Idella OK, two sisters-in-law; Bessie Cheatam of Macon MS, Queen Ester Young of Waukegan IL, a nephew and niece she helped raised; Clevon Young, Cleinix Young Ford, a special friend; Ruth Blakely, two special granddaughters/caretakers; Lawanda Pope, Felicia Parker, thirty-five grandchildren, eighty great grandchildren, twenty great great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
