Visitation will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena AR from 4 - 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2o18 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, Lakeview AR at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Salem Church Cemetery, Lakeview AR
Willie Mae Wilson was born February 11, 1944 in Lake View, Arkansas to the late Willie Lee Mansfield and Theresa Gammon Mansfield. She had the awesome honor of being raised by her grandparents; Robert and Dora Gammon. She accepted Christ at an early age at Salem Missionary Baptist Church and was very active in speaking at other churches as well as youth fraternal events.
Willie Mae graduated from Lake View High School in 1964 where she actively participated in many school functions such as: the school choir, a majorette in the school band and a member of the National Honor Society just to name a few. Willie Mae also was in the Lake View Cooperative Association Pageant.
Willie Mae furthered her education at the University of Arkansas of Pine Bluff (UAPB) and Charles Stewart Mott Community College to receive an Associates in Applied Arts May 11, 1986.
Willie Mae career consisted of employment at Summerfield Chevrolet, Flint General Hospital, Executive Secretary at General Motors Buick all of Flint, Michigan.
Being filled with the Precious Holy Ghost, Willie Mae was led to found and pastor the House of Prayer Christian Church, located at 125 East Alma Street, Flint, Michigan. She was affiliated and associated with several organizations to include: Apostolic Women United Altar Worker and Victorious Christian Women, Inc. where she is noted for being one of the original Executive Members and Treasurer. Being civic minded, she worked with the Democratic Election Committee. She also served as a Chaplin for the Prison System of Flint Michigan. Pastor Willie had a never-ending love and compassion for learning, teaching others and praying God’s Words.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Willie Lee Mansfield, Theresa Gammon Mansfield, Dora Gammon and Robert Gammon.
Pastor Willie Mae Wilson leaves to cherish her memory one son: Tyrone Mansfield, Sr of Flint, MI, one brother: Lawrence (Spencer Ann) Mansfield, Sr. of Lake View AR five sisters; Viola Mansfield of Little Rock AR, Linda Edozie of Fredericksburg VA, Mottiece Mansfield of Atlanta GA, Deborah (Earnest) Harris of Houston TX, Helen Simpson of Helena AR, five grandchildren: Latreal Crockett of Flint MI, Desirae Glatfilter of Grand Rapid MI, Tyrone (Christy) Mansfield, Jr. of Brighton MI, Anna Mansfield of Grand Rapid MI, Adrian (Maranda) Mansfield of Orlando FL, six great grandchildren, Special God Daughter: Carolyn Minott, host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends Special friends in Christ: Sis. Katherine Williams, Pastor Delores Tansil, Pastor Renee, Pastor Aleta Curry, Sis. Willie Bell (Sweet) Coleman, Sis. Frances Terry, Bro. Ken and Sis. Jan Nelson, Bro and Sis. Odessa Martin, Sis.
