Visitation will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service will follow promptly at 12:00 noon at Jackson - Highley Funeral Chapel, West Helena, Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Magnolia Cemetery, Helena Arkansas. We will follow CDC guidelines: mask, hand sanitizer, and the social distance standard of 6ft apart.
Norma Jean Jackson Bell was born July 10th, 1967 to Viola Jean Murry and Melvin Jackson. She gained her wings March 4th, 2022 at the age of 54.
Norma confessed a hope in Christ early in life at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Helena, Arkansas. Reverend A.L. Woodson was the presiding pastor. She had a faith like no other and a soul so sweet and kind. She was very reliable and trustworthy amongst many coworkers, relatives, and friends. She loved to read, she enjoyed bible study on Thursday with her sister; Sheletha.
Norma left Helena, Arkansas and pursued a degree at Arkansas State University (ASU), Jonesboro Arkansas where she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. She majored in Political Science and received her bachelor’s degree. She worked at the public library in Helena, Arkansas for a few years and at That Bookstore in Blytheville, Arkansas. In her later years she moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas and found her way back to ASU working in Facilities Management as an Administrator. Norma loved her job and coworkers. Some became like family to her.
She is preceded in death by her parents – Viola Jean Murry and Melvin Jackson; siblings – Barbara Williams, John Jackson, Alvin Jackson, and Melvin Jackson, Jr.
Norma leaves behind her only child; Breanna (Frederick) Cannon, two grandchildren; Chole Whitted, Savannah Rattler, siblings; Doris Jean (Curtis) Daniel, Linda (Melvin) Sims, Sheletha (Al Terry) Simpson, Leonard “Van” (Rhonda) Murry, Ives Murry, T.C. Jackson, Bryan (Tina) Carter, Calvin (Pamela) Carter, Marilyn (Harvey) Jackson-Thomas, Cornelya Jackson, Linda (John) Washington, Darris Glen, Adell Jackson, Marilyn (Tony) Pillow, Audrey Wilson, Verdeen (Joseph) Jackson-Gueste, Francine Williams, and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
