Alaric Thurman Dolphin, Sr. was born September 4, 1957 in Helena, Arkansas to the late James Leroy Dolphin, Sr. and Viola Jones McGlaun. He fought a good fight and completed his course in the comforts of his home, June 29, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family in St. Louis Missouri.

Alaric accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, Oneida Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Sterling King. In 2014, he joined First Missionary Baptist Church of Elaine, Arkansas under the leadership of Elder Lewis Bingham and remained a member until his demise.

Alaric was a graduate of C.V. White High School Class of 1975. He continued his education at the Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn, Michigan where he majored in Automotive Technology. He completed one year of school while working various jobs throughout the Detroit, Michigan area.

In 1978, Alaric enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Military Police Officer. While at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina he faithfully served this nation and made an honorable decision to reenlist. Continuing with his military career, in 1983 he received orders to Honolulu, Hawaii where he remained for the next two years. After completing his military commitment he was employed at Telos Construction Company, Honolulu, Hawaii until his relocation back to Arkansas in 1994.

September 4, 1997, he was united in Holy Matrimony to his best friend, partner, teammate, comforter all in one in; Charis Hood Dolphin. This union remained loving, faithful, and devoted for twenty-four years. Although no children were born to this union, but it blended a loving and nurturing family unit.

Alaric affectionately known as “Dog” and “Bigger Figure,” was a prime example of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be. He was a hard worker, making sure his family was taken care of. He was a humble, well-mannered yet kind spirited man that everyone that he came in contact with enjoyed his presence.

In 2017, Alaric relocated with his family to St. Louis, Missouri. There he was employed at Anheuser Busch Corporation until his health decline.

Alaric is preceded in death by his father; James Dolphin, Sr., paternal grandparents; Rosie Glover and Otis Dolphin, maternal grandparents; Frank and Veola Jones, paternal great grandparents; Mayor Silas and Etta Dolphin, and a daughter; Danielle Collins.

Alaric leaves to cherish his memories a beautiful wife of twenty-four years; Charise Dolphin of St. Louis MO, three daughters; Tesheena Dolphin, Ameka Dolphin both of Detroit MI, Destina Dolphin of Plano TX, five sons; Shannon Hopkins of McGhee AR, Brandon Tyler of Memphis TN, Alaric Dolphin, Jr. of Honolulu HI, Arthello Davis of North Little Rock AR, Tommie Hood of Marion AR, his mother; Viola McGlaun of Detroit MI, a wonderful mother-in-law; Jim Ella Carter of West Helena AR, five sisters; Patricia (Thomas) Malone of  Detroit MI, Rosalind (Darth Vader) Williamson of Memphis TN, Elaine (James) Golden of West Helena AR, Easter McClain of Marietta GA, Carla McCain of West Helena AR, nine brothers; James (Mary) Dolphin of Forrest City AR, Ronald Dolphin of Dayton OH, Tony (Lisa) Dolphin of Kansas City MO, Elder Kim (Sabrina) Moore of Atlanta GA, Sean Dolphin of Dayton OH, Attorney Ronald (Linda) Wilson of Marion AR, Calvin McClain of Little Rock AR, Charlie McClain of Fort Lauderdale FL, Clarence (LaToshia) Hood of Swansea IL, one great aunt; Ludie Johnson of Helena AR, three aunts; Carolyn Cunningham, Phyllis Harper both of  St. Louis MO, Alma Davis of West Helena AR, two uncles; William Harper of St. Louis MO, John (Jearline) Parker of Little Rock AR, two granddaughter that he loved dearly and they loved “PaPa;” AuBrina Hood of Creve Coeur MO, Kaitlyn Hood of West Helena AR, special cousin/sister; Etta Phillips, special friends; Donald Ray Henderson, Dennis Smith, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
