Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena AR from 4-6 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Salem Baptist Church, Lakeview AR at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Salem Church Cemetery, Lakeview AR.
Ms. Shirley Gammon-Anderson was born February 27, 1955, in Phillips County, Arkansas to the late Eddie and Evangeleane Gammon. She was the fifth of six siblings.
Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age under the leadership of Rev. G. B. Tyler at Salem M.B. Church, Lake View, Arkansas. She graduated from C. V. White High School, Lake View, Arkansas in 1973. Later, she moved to New York, NY where she worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for several years.
Shirley enjoyed being around her family, working crossword puzzles and watching TV. She loved her grandchildren, especially Donzella Gammon.
Shirley transitioned this earthly journey in dignity at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS) in Little Rock on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at approximately 8:45 in the evening. She was proceeded in the death by her parents; infant son: Warren Anderson; brother: Possie Gammon and her precious grandchildren: Abdul Gammon, Larry Robinson, III, Laila Higgins, Deandre Fitzgerald, and Kamon Fitzgerald.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories: her son: Jason Anderson of Rochester, NY; daughters: Ebony Gammon of Little Rock, AR; Kimberly (James) Riley of Helena-West Helena, AR; Cassandra Anderson of Little Rock, AR; her brothers: Abdul (Dana) Amin of Portland, OR; Laria (Betty) Gammon of Calumet City, IL; Rev. Jonathan (Carol) Gammon of South Holland, IL; her sister: Barbara Williams of Lake View, AR; uncle: Earnest (Earline) McGinister of Helena-West Helena, AR, and a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
