Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2020 Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Jackson - Highley Funeral Home Chapel, West Helena Arkansas. Interment will follow immediately at Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Lexa Arkansas. Due to our Federal and State COVID-19 guidelines: during the Visitation - we will only allow individuals to view 10 at a time. Chapel Service - we will admit 50 individuals with the proper wristband, temperature checks, and mask.  At the Cemetery - we will abide by the social distance standard of 6ft apart. Edward “Growler” Calvin Taylor was born June 10, 1951 in West Helena, Arkansas to Forrest and Catherine Taylor. He received his Heavenly reward August 20, 2020 at Baptist Health – Conway, Conway Arkansas.

Edward received his formal education within the Helena – West Helena School District. He was a proud graduate of Eliza Miller High School, West Helena Arkansas. He continued his education at Lane College, Jackson Tennessee.  There in 1970 he pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science.

Edward was united in holy matrimony to Bertha Taylor. To this union one child was born but an blended family was built with love.

Edward was a proud and active member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, West Helena Arkansas. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1986 by Reverend Kenneth D. Bohanan. Deacon Taylor served in many capacities and remained faithfully until his health began to decline.

Affectionately known as Growler, he diligently served in the Helena – West Helena School District for 25 years as a Teacher, Administrator, Mentor, and most of all a Friend. In 2018, he was inducted into the Helena – West Helena Athletic Hall of Fame.

Deacon Taylor’s hobbies included: Reading the Bible, Reading the Bible, and Reading the Bible some more. He was a known for being a Bible Scholar.

Edward was proceeded in death by his wife, Bertha Taylor.

Edward is survived in death by his mother; Catherine Brown, children; Brandon Taylor, Ferylica Goldsberry, Freddie Goldsberry, Frederick Goldsberry, Kevin Taylor, China Kirkland, Terry Roberson, siblings; Ellouise Taylor Peters, Marvin Taylor, Gwendolyn Taylor, Carlesa Prather, special friends; Ben Price, Ronnie Shepard, special niece; Clanci Taylor and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
