Maxine Brewer Riley, age 72, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Good Shepherd in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born November 12, 1946 in Helena, Arkansas to Alex Brewer, Sr. and Opal Brewer. Maxine was the oldest of 14 children. She spent most of her life helping to raise and care for her younger brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. She loved to sew and made a lot of her own clothes and household items; she sewed for her children, other family members, friends, and neighbors. She liked to spend time watching her “stories,” cooking, and fixing up her house. Maxine enjoyed going to Power House and was a member for over 30 years until she moved away to live near her children.

Maxine is survived by her mother Opal Brewer; her children Jo Williams, Timothy Brewer (Lisa), Orlando Brewer, and Sabrina Jones (Cedric); her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings Shirley Scaife, Dexter Brewer (Patricia), Blanche Bell, Alex Brewer, Jr. (Sandra), Bobby Brewer, Patricia Bell, Lynn Brewer, Kent Brewer, Jesse Brewer, Arlisha Brewer, Tracy Brewer, Rhonda Brown, and Shannon Brewer (Gayle); and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Maxine was preceded in death by Mr. Riley and by her father Alex Brewer, Sr. Maxine will be sorely missed and yet always remembered for her quiet and gentle manner.
